Goodbye 2012

I can't believe it is New Year's Eve.  Life is so different than it has been before that I can't quite keep up with the time.  So here are some thoughts that have crossed my mind today.

1- I am so thankful.  Thankful for friends and family and even some kind strangers.  I am thankful for you for reading and checking in even when I display a complete lack of "having it together."  Thank you!

2- I can hardly believe the things that started this year as ideas and have come to fruition.  At the beginning of the year we were just plotting on how to get to Asheville.   Now we live here.  At the beginning of this year I was pregnant and then miscarried.   Now I am exactly one month from my due date.  Both of these things are so big I am surely missing the point, but I am living them each day and trying to enjoy each moment.

3- My son is changing so much.  He makes me crazier than crazy but he also is kind, tells fantastic stories, loves without reserve and goes for what he wants without waiting for anyone to say it is okay.  He tells it how it is.  Don't ask him if you don't want to hear it. 

4- My husband is the most amazing partner I could have ever asked for.  He gives me more than anyone else ever has and I really love being with him more each day.  His family is also pretty fantastic and I am having a wonderful time getting to know them better each passing day with our new closeness.

5- My parents have been such a light, as always, but especially this year as they allow their love for each other to burn ever brighter.  Their kindness to each other and all others that cross their path is really an amazing example of loving kindness in action.  I hope one day to grow to be half so generous with my heart and head.

I am entering this new year with a heart full of gratitude and I hope you, too, take a few minutes tonight and tomorrow to look around and see all your blessings.  I hope this new year is full of joy, health and gratitude for all of us.

Thank you for being you, and for the kind words. I draw inspiration from you and your extended family, and from your brother's as well. I have never met a stranger and I hope that E and S will be the same way. I am so happy that you have seen the desires of your heart in 2012 and hope that you will be able to maintain that focus during hard times and easy times.

Robinia

 Becky and I set out to make a couple of Robinia sweaters in mid-March, which took two months to complete.  Just yesterday, I wove in the ends and wore it.  I'm afraid to block it.   Specs: The Robinia has been making the rounds.  I couldn't see buying the tons of yarn it would take to create the three-strand yarn the designer used, but Becky found this chainette cotton blend, Cantata , that seemed perfect. I've recently realized that making the exact color combination that I liked in the first place is not a bad thing.  It means I get the garment I really loved in the first place. Mods: I made a size XS/S even though I could have made the M according to the designer but everything I knit comes out bigger than expected, even when I gauge swatch right on target.  (I think the blocked weight of the garment just is so much more than the swatch is what causes this, but it's just a theory.)  I didn't wrap any of my floats and it remains to be seen if I'll regret tha

Hooray a Giveaway!

Happy 200 posts to me! I can't believe that two years ago I started writing this because I was wanting to craft and be part of the amazing crafting/blogging community I had discovered. These amazing , vivacious artists , mothers and creators . Everyday I would read their blogs and be blown away by beautiful pictures of wonderful things that they were creating. And they had other jobs like being mama or owning a shop. I was inspired! And then we moved into this wonderful house and a month later Senor gave me a sewing machine. I was floored because it meant he believed I could really create something. My family and friends have always been supportive but this was somehow different.
