It was a hectic day.  Full of excitement and sadness.  A dear fuzzy friend left us.  I was sad for her loss and it made me think of our Zo Bear.

Zo Bear

Sometime in the Fall of the year 2000 a little, tiny, three pound schipperke moved from the Eastern Shore to live with me in Baltimore.  My first memory was her running into the room and then flipping over at my feet for a belly rub.  She had so much energy and bounce.  She went just about everywhere with me.  I easily carried her in my pocket or purse.  People often thought she was a toy.  I named her Zo Bear because she often walked on her back legs like a circus bear.  The first night she met Senor she stood on his chest and licked his face, nose and ears until they turned red.  I knew he was the one just from that.  It was love at first sight for all of us. For a while I had a job where she came with me everyday.  We would walk in Double Rock Park for an hour before I went in.  She greeted every one of my employees as they came in. Everyone wanted to know what kind of dog she was.  Sometimes people thought she was...

A Spring Quilt

For Autumn??  I started this one in April  and just finished it last night.  I had to. At the end of August I signed up the  Professional Training Program with the Institute of Integrative Nutrition .  In October my classes start in earnest.  In March I will be able to start seeing clients as a Health Coach.  Helping people make the changes they want and need in their lives to become healthier and happier.  I am so excited to be able to go to this school and have the chance to do this kind of work.  Work which is helpful to individuals, communities and our whole world.  Right now I am going through the fundamentals, they call them Warm Up classes.  And I am certainly getting warmer.  It is so wonderful to be learning again.  To have something to share with my family and friends aside from what the Bug did today. I am sure you will all get to listen to me ramble on about all this in the next year.  I mi...

On the move!

Image
(I wrote this a week ago but had a lot of trouble uploading the videos.) In the last few days the Bug has really figured out getting around. He does a military crawl and nothing is safe anymore. Looks like we need one more baby gate... Here is a little demonstration: In this video (which is pretty crappy because it was night time, just before getting ready for bed) you can see him stepping and laughing. Sorry about my laugh at the end. I always try to be quiet while the camera is going but he's funny, ya know? He is also clapping when he is happy. On the potty, for breakfast, what have you. I can't imagine where he picked that up... His relationship with Zo continues to develop and we find him making out with her when ever we don't intervene fast enough. This morning he realized he could sit in his chair at breakfast and lean over to hand her a tasty morsel. So there you go! More ridiculous Bugness.

My First Mother's Day

Image
This morning I hustled everyone (my parents and Senor's mom are all here) out the door to make it to Miss Shirley's to beat the crowd for breakfast. Mmmm, fried green tomatoes and other goodness! We got there just in time to get a seat without waiting even with the news crew set up outside. Since E is so small most of the clothes we have for him don't fit yet so I have been itching to make him a shirt that has the little hand covers so we can slow down the face scratching. I had the perfect fabric from some of Cindy's grandmother's stash and Senor had picked up some fancy red jeweled snaps. With a little help from some tutorials ( here and here ) I made up a pattern for a knit with long sleeves, hand covers and snaps. My mother helped confirm my geometry and I was off. The results are okay, they need a little tweeking but I think it will work. Here is the prototype. Scott and Sharon brought by crepes and flowers which were promptly devoured (the crepes, not...

Now that I got that off my chest... or What Sunday mornings look like

Image
I can get on to the post that I have been trying to make since Sunday. Everyday this week we have had some kind of responsibility in the evening until now! Yay for Fridays!! Anyway, here are some pictures from my world: Last Sunday morning was spent in bed goofing. We had both been out late Saturday night and I didn't get out of bed until about 1pm. I did eat and play with the dog and take pictures and sleep some more- just all from bed! This is what it looks like from my bed. With the green cover on it you amlost feel like you could drift away into the lotus blossoms. This little one makes sure you don't drift too far before allowing her a romp in the yard and fresh bowl of food. And don't forget the kisses and belly rubs... But this is my favorite. Not because we look so beautiful or because the picture is all that great but it reminds me of the love and calm in this house and that makes me so happy I could burst.

Because mostly, I suck

Tired Puppy

Image
(This picture is from Christmas because there has been no sun to take good pictures in months.) Zo is still worn out from her weekend trip to Grandma B's house. In order to keep her record as "Most Beat Up Puppy In Town" Zo got a big ol' swat and scratch on the cheek from Grandma B's cat Charlie. I could hardly get her to go in the backyard yesterday after work. She came and got in bed with me at eight last night (I was working in bed.)
