Makin' Monday

Hola chicos y chicas! So I went and got myself some bangs... in case you were wondering after that last post. I am sure there will be a picture forth coming. Just not today. Today I stayed home and sewed all day. Well, after the doggy went to the vet... I made another apron and started to make this dress that has been floating around in my mind. I am not sure it working as I am completely without a pattern and since I don't have a dress form every time I get so far that I want to try it on again I have to run upstairs to use the mirror and put some pins in it and then come back down and try to make that work and then repeat. Again and again. Luckily the fabric is sooooo soft it isn't making me angry at all. And despite the stretchy nature I haven't been cussing all day. But I am not sure what I have made. We'll see what Senor says when he sees it. He is pretty honest and direct... Maybe I can get him to be my dress form for a few minutes...

Our good friends got married yesterday and gave us the excuse to make cool things for them. We both really got into the making. I am going to assume that by now they have gotten to the important part of being married known as opening a bunch of presents from your super cool friends. And if they haven't and you are them then get to it! I have had the idea since I heard they were getting married that Cindy should get a really cool apron. She loves to cook and is great at it and sometimes it is kind of funny because cooking is thought of as domestic and homey but she is a totally rockin' chick. Sort of like me and sewing and how that doesn't quite seem to go together sometimes... Anyway thinking about this dichotomy I came up with the idea that on one side the apron should be sweet and french and kind of romantic and the other side might be more- let's say aggressive... I saw this Japanese fabric and knew it was perfect but by the time I was ready to get it I could o...

Early and Late

A few birthday gifts got to their new homes this week. Arriving about a week early, this bag found my mother- It is from this book . I will say the pattern directions seemed to skip a few steps and I was glad I had already made some other bags from her instructions so I noticed that I was missing something. Still, it was very easy and I hope you will use it up Mom. I can always make another one if you want something "nice" to carry around. Happy Birthday and thank you for being the best mother a girl could ask for! The other birthday gift was late because I wasn't sure the exact day he would arrive. And I wanted to make sure his big brother had some fun things to play with too. The cat is similar to the first one I made for Kent. I got the pattern from Green Kitchen's blog and only changed it the tiniest bit. Click on the pictures to see more!

So this bag was supposed to be just a little tiny tote for the weekend when I didn't need all that other worky/gym stuff. Of course, that was how it started out... My first mistake was trying to do homework when I was only half way done with the project. I was trying to give myself motivation to do twenty pages of reading and then I could take a break and finish sewing this simple little thing. But then, my eyes were scanning the pages and my mind saying each word but I was thinking of the handles of the tote. Then I was thinking of the base, how maybe if I sewed a little "T" at the bottom the felt would be strong enough to stand up... and maybe I didn't really like the dimensions, maybe it should fold over. then I could use it taller, or fold it over if I only had a wallet, phone and lip stick in there.... You see how there are no thoughts about psychology on this train? So I put down the book and went over to sewing machine and after about 30 minutes I came ou...
