Craft Hope

This last week I have been rocking my way through a long action item list and feeling very good about it. My whole life is ups and downs of productivity like anyone (?) but I do a whole lot more thinking about doing than actually doing. But when the list gets longer I just have to get to work because it messes with my head space. (Ignore the dirty floor but check out the passed out pooch. So sweet, she wanted to help.) The first thing I had to complete was our donation for Craft Hope . They are organizing the donation of probably millions of towels to help with cleaning animals affected by the oil spill. I don't have a good picture of the finished project because the light was bad. (Which hardly matters. It just looks like stacks of fabric anyway.) I only have this picture of the left overs. Senor (the saint) and I stayed up late one night this week and cut up about 50 t shirts that his company had given us to do this with. That works out to something like 250 washcloth...

little a Shop!!

Ladies and Gentlefish I am proud to announce.... a shop ! To inaugurate it I am working with Mel Yukna who started "My Share" on facebook. MyShare is a group of Baltimore area folks who want to eat local, shop local, support local. How cool is that? The first offering in the shop has to do with just this idea. If you are like me, when you go to the market you go for many reasons and one of the biggest is feeling like you are doing your part to reduce consumption of fossil fuels by buying food grown near you instead of half way around the globe. And you find the most beautiful peaches or raspberries, your mouth is salivating imagining the deliciousness as you wait your turn to pay and the farmer dumps them into... a plastic bag! It's like someone took the needle off the record and ruined your perfect little moment. Well, no need to hear that icky scratching sound again! Now you can buy reusable cloth...

Hope

There are amazing things that happen everyday in our world. There are also terrible things that happen and we just ignore them and let it all slide by. I am the first to admit that I have rose tinted glasses. I avoid the news and almost always turn away from the horrors of the world. I think I do it because the news gives no hope. There is almost never a chance to help or change these things, just to hear more and more and more. So I shut it out. There are two things that I want to say about this today. First, go VOTE tomorrow. I don't care who you support. Go VOTE. Second, and oh so close to my heart, is this project that Amanda Soule has taken on. This is the way I need to hear about the horrors of the world. Here is this thing going on, and here is what you can do to help. If you are crafty or mama oriented you probably already know about Soule Mama . She inspires me everyday to think and create and also to experience the world around me. I know she is an inspirat...
