69 days

Can you feel the slight panic sensation?

We're going to have a what? When?

Okay, I'm over it for now...

Last night I had a dream that we lived in this really strange hotel that was downtown but like something from Morrocco with tiles and bricks and weird levels. And then I went into labor, but it was now, at 30 weeks and so I knew that wasn't good but I didn't want to tell John becuase I didn't want to get him worried. Isn't it amazing the things you can feel normal about while dreaming?

Anyway, we are going to the craft show in Baltimore this weekend and I am very excited. I also have a baby related project for each weekend until April so we will see how I do with that and updating things. I really do try. But you know, life gets in the way sometimes...

Makin' Monday

Hola chicos y chicas!

So I went and got myself some bangs... in case you were wondering after that last post. I am sure there will be a picture forth coming. Just not today.
Today I stayed home and sewed all day. Well, after the doggy went to the vet...

Tricia's apron

I made another apron and started to make this dress that has been floating around in my mind.

dress making

I am not sure it working as I am completely without a pattern and since I don't have a dress form every time I get so far that I want to try it on again I have to run upstairs to use the mirror and put some pins in it and then come back down and try to make that work and then repeat. Again and again. Luckily the fabric is sooooo soft it isn't making me angry at all. And despite the stretchy nature I haven't been cussing all day. But I am not sure what I have made. We'll see what Senor says when he sees it. He is pretty honest and direct... Maybe I can get him to be my dress form for a few minutes...

Hair today, what tomorrow?

Let's go for a tour, shall we? It is a tour of my head... luckily for you it will only be a tour of the outside. No insides today.
I will start with the most recent and work backwards.

Hair 08 winter

This is fairly recent and basically what I am working with now. It is a little longer but you get the idea.

hair 08 summer

Over the summer. Right before prenatal vitamins started working magic...

hair 08 spring

Early 2008. I was so happy when this grew out!

hair 07 winter

Winter of 2007. I loved this look and always felt sexy... I have no idea why I went short in the spring...

hair 07? 06?

This happened in a fit of Alyssa Milano love. Seriously. I don't know either...

hair 03.04 104

From our reception. Five years ago next month. Crazy.

All of this is just because I want a different look but don't want to cut my hair so I am trying to decide about maybe bangs again. I think I am going to go for it. I wish I was still willing to dye my hair looking at these pictures because I clearly look best with darker hair.

Maybe tomorrow...

Constructed, green and the mail

cutting table

Completed last night. With a little more geometry than we use on a daily basis, but we survived. it is a cutting/craft table. The coolest part? The top is a cutting surface that I can use the roller or an exacto or whatever on. How freaking cool is my husband?!!! And it is huge and tall. I can hardly stand not to be using it but the ideas are coming so fast I haven't had time sort them out...

hindu rope

All little plants from our local place and all the dishes they are in from our favorite gigantic thrift store. How cool is that. Green things make me happy, both plants and recycled items.

Cat dish

Speaking of recycled items- what cat doesn't deserve to eat out of a footed cut glass dish? I found this at the thrift store as well. And since we are down to one cat, I thought it might be time to downsize from the gigantic, ugly bowl we had down.

And finally, this came in the mail from a cousin in Philly. I am hoping it means this child is coming with money. :-P

Have a happy Sunday.

Under Construction

construction 002

Cool things are/have already happened this weekend. Right now Senor is working on a project I can't wait to see the end result of. It is very cool to hear and talk and think about a project for a short while and then have it come together in an afternoon. (well, fingers crossed for the afternoon thing)
We also managed to get a bunch of errands run today (all of the ones we wanted, in fact.) How often does that happen?
At the beginning of our errand running I turned the radio to NPR and Senor turned to me and said, "You know, running errands on the weekend and listening to the radio is one of my favorite things." I thought this was very, very cool as I have a special relationship with doing this as well. When we were kids, we lived in a little community in southern Virginia and every Sunday after church we had to drive about an hour to the next, bigger town, to run errands. It happened to be the hour when Prairie Home Companion was on the air and to me that was the real "church." Garrison Keller always seemed to express something simple and profound and the music and stories are things I carry with me to this day. I couldn't tell you what a single real church sermon was about, but I can still remember tales from Lake Wobegon and Cafe Bouef.
Anyway, I am going to go finish dinner now but I hope tomorrow I will be able to show you some of the cool things we accomplished today.

Going gray

gray 010

(don't mind the smudged mirror- I'm going to clean that tomorrow morning...)

So this was my outfit today. I usually don’t talk about fashion things because I am not all that fashionable. And now, with the belly, my options are getting narrower and narrower. But I have to tell you I love gray. And I love this little striped sweater. I don’t know why I always feel sexy and thin in dark gray or why these strips make me so happy but wow, do I feel great in this. Throw in the shoes and you can’t get me down.

On another note, thank you so much for not thinking I am crazy to ask you to plant my garden! I can’t tell you how thrilled I am. I fantasize about what it will look like and how it will be to sit outside and enjoy the air and the sun again. I think about it so much sometimes I get nothing else done. I feel completely crushed by the weight of the darkness in winter sometimes. When you leave work every day and the sun has long since set. The other day however, I had a little glimmer. Somehow, Senor had picked me up and brought me home and it was between five and six in the evening and the sun was just setting. Full of gold and pink. And then yesterday- it was like 60 degrees here! I couldn’t believe my good luck that for my job I was able to walk around outside and hang posters to promote the café.

Of course today it snowed all day. But I guess that is pretty too… I am at least determined not to complain about it.
