a little inspiration

These last few days it has been grandparent central around here. They were playing "Pass the Baby" and helping us out a whole, whole bunch! Thank you all and come again soon! The cat, on the other hand, is not helping at all... If you click on any of those pictures you can see more super cuteness. Because he is the cutersons. Also a big huge thanks for my Grammie, Grampie and Aunties for the box of goodies we got last week! Emerson is wearing all those great newborn things right now since we had only a couple things to fit him before your gifts arrived. I should have taken a picture of everything before it got absorbed... We sure do love the mail right now (I mean, I have always been very romantic about it) and every day I am excited to see what's in it. Thanks to everyone who has sent a card, gift or flowers. We sure are basking in all the love!

Completed last night. With a little more geometry than we use on a daily basis, but we survived. it is a cutting/craft table. The coolest part? The top is a cutting surface that I can use the roller or an exacto or whatever on. How freaking cool is my husband?!!! And it is huge and tall. I can hardly stand not to be using it but the ideas are coming so fast I haven't had time sort them out... All little plants from our local place and all the dishes they are in from our favorite gigantic thrift store. How cool is that. Green things make me happy, both plants and recycled items. Speaking of recycled items- what cat doesn't deserve to eat out of a footed cut glass dish? I found this at the thrift store as well. And since we are down to one cat, I thought it might be time to downsize from the gigantic, ugly bowl we had down. And finally, this came in the mail from a cousin in Philly. I am hoping it means this child is coming with money. :-P Have a happy Sunday.

Thank you all for the well wishes, we are so thrilled to finally be sharing all of this with you! You know, it is chilly here! I am so unprepared to be cold all the time... I know it is almost the end of October and I should be grateful for a long summer and everything but, meh. I am also blaming the cold on my baking failure last night. I just can't seem to get bread to rise... Well, this time was, arguably, the best try yet. It rose the first time... Luckily the pesto I made last night is pretty banging so at least I didn't dirty every dish in the whole house with no good result... And the loaf may be salvageable with enough butter and honey. At any rate, it confirms again for me the need to stay out of the kitchen, especially with bread baking. I am just too disappointed with the failures. And I used up almost all the flour we had in the house. Maybe I should get a bread maker.... Then you can't mess it up, right? I do so miss having fresh bread in the house....

The mail has been good to our home the last couple weeks. Last night I came home and found this wonderful painting waiting for me. It is from my grandfather Jerry! He knows how much I love cats and so he painted it just for our new house. We are going to hang it up downstairs near another cat poster where John makes lots of music! Here is a picture of it near its new home. Doesn’t it look nice?! The other things that have come in the mail were from Joel and Lisa. We got the cutest egg whisk and saucepan and a lovely pottery vase. Sydney even got something nice out it! Other wonderful things have come in the mail but we wont be able to talk about them until after tomorrow because someone is having a birthday!
