In the Mail

The mail has been good to our home the last couple weeks. Last night I came home and found this wonderful painting waiting for me. It is from my grandfather Jerry! He knows how much I love cats and so he painted it just for our new house. We are going to hang it up downstairs near another cat poster where John makes lots of music! Here is a picture of it near its new home. Doesn’t it look nice?!

The other things that have come in the mail were from Joel and Lisa. We got the cutest egg whisk and saucepan and a lovely pottery vase. Sydney even got something nice out it!

Other wonderful things have come in the mail but we wont be able to talk about them until after tomorrow because someone is having a birthday!

I AM SO HAPPY YOU GOT YHE CAT PICTURE AND IT LOOKS SO NICE NEXT TO JOHN PLAYING THE GUITAR. I HOPE YOU GET MANY FAVORABLE COMMENTS ABOUT MY PAINTING. I SENT ONE TO DAD OF A DOG THAT LOOKS LIKE HERO. HE SAID THEY WILL HANG IT IN THEIR BEDROOM.

Happy 200 posts to me! I can't believe that two years ago I started writing this because I was wanting to craft and be part of the amazing crafting/blogging community I had discovered. These amazing , vivacious artists , mothers and creators . Everyday I would read their blogs and be blown away by beautiful pictures of wonderful things that they were creating. Robinia

 Becky and I set out to make a couple of Robinia sweaters in mid-March, which took two months to complete.  Just yesterday, I wove in the ends and wore it.  I'm afraid to block it.   Specs: The Robinia has been making the rounds.  I couldn't see buying the tons of yarn it would take to create the three-strand yarn the designer used, but Becky found this chainette cotton blend, Cantata , that seemed perfect. I've recently realized that making the exact color combination that I liked in the first place is not a bad thing.  It means I get the garment I really loved in the first place. Mods: I made a size XS/S even though I could have made the M according to the designer but everything I knit comes out bigger than expected, even when I gauge swatch right on target.  (I think the blocked weight of the garment just is so much more than the swatch is what causes this, but it's just a theory.)  I didn't wrap any of my floats and it remains to b...

A short list of thoughts 1. Two trips to the pediatrician in two days is too many. Emerson is a little jaundiced and he'll be fine if they would stop poking him. 2. I find myself wanting to do nothing but stare at him. No thinking, just staring. 3. I can't get over how thankful I am to the two women who stayed up all those hours with us during the labor. I always had someone whispering encouragement, holding my hand, prompting a question, pushing my hair back; whatever I needed. And I had known them prior to this for about an hour... Thank you Ellie and Christi! 4. Finally, I have the best husband on the planet. Because all I can keep up with is this tiny person and he isn't complaining about taking care of everything else.
