Weekend List

Up at 6am

Things we did:

1) Had dinner with Scott and Sharon.

2) Finally got to the post office to mail somethings I have been trying to get out of here for a week.

3) Went to garden store to buy things for a vegetable garden which s&s made us want after seeing their lovely yard.

4) Sat in the car through a rainstorm drinking coffee.

5) Found a banana tree that the garden people say is hardy. Mom, have you ever heard such a thing??! I want... is it wrong to covet a tree?

6) Settled for much less expensive (and no doubt more productive) green beans, cuc, zuc, euc, and dill. (pretty impressive, heh?)

7) Went to bed at like 8:30 on Saturday. Yeah, we're old- so what.

8) Got up at six this morning because me head was just going. Started sewing things, woke up other people to buy fabric (sorry) and had a lovely breakfast.

9) Dug out and planted vegitales garden. Whew...

10) I think going to bed again at 8:30....

Fun weekend! What's euc? Eucalyptus? I couldn't think of anything else it would be, but then I'm not sure what you'd do with eucalyptus except make things fragrant. Can you eat it? Are you thinking of getting a koala? LOL.

Hope you found some fun fabrics. That's always a good way to spend a morning. =)

So yes, banana trees may be hardy to your climate. There is a lady here in Prices Fork that cuts hers down each fall and mulches very heavy...and by mid summer they look like banana trees.

Well, just a word about coveting trees....I seem to have killed all those that I coveted, the monkeypuzzle, and the italian cypress, the norfolk island pine. So...that's my experience..not so happy...

Robinia

 Becky and I set out to make a couple of Robinia sweaters in mid-March, which took two months to complete.  Just yesterday, I wove in the ends and wore it.  I'm afraid to block it.   Specs: The Robinia has been making the rounds.  I couldn't see buying the tons of yarn it would take to create the three-strand yarn the designer used, but Becky found this chainette cotton blend, Cantata , that seemed perfect. I've recently realized that making the exact color combination that I liked in the first place is not a bad thing.  It means I get the garment I really loved in the first place. Mods: I made a size XS/S even though I could have made the M according to the designer but everything I knit comes out bigger than expected, even when I gauge swatch right on target.  (I think the blocked weight of the garment just is so much more than the swatch is what causes this, but it's just a theory.)  I didn't wrap any of my floats and it remains to be seen if I'll regret tha

Happy 200 posts to me! I can't believe that two years ago I started writing this because I was wanting to craft and be part of the amazing crafting/blogging community I had discovered. These amazing , vivacious artists , mothers and creators . Everyday I would read their blogs and be blown away by beautiful pictures of wonderful things that they were creating. And they had other jobs like being mama or owning a shop. I was inspired! And then we moved into this wonderful house and a month later Senor gave me a sewing machine. I was floored because it meant he believed I could really create something. My family and friends have always been supportive but this was somehow different. Senor has this almost magical ability to take my ideas and help turn them into reality.
