Fabric.com was having a sale... This is always how these things start...
I found this lovely fabric and fell in love. And then it got here and I saw how big the prints were and realized that I couldn't cut it up into small pieces. And then I found that quilt pattern in the link, but really, how are you going to use that size quilt? I needed it queen size so I can sleep under it every night... Yum. But of course, that means doing math that I don't really even know where to start from. And I don't have a name for this block style so it is harder to google. And then I found this calculator! Which was sort of like angels singing from behind a bright light.
Now I can't wait until John is home and I can get cutting!

(In re-reading this I noticed I use 'and' and 'but' too start most sentences... hope that isn't a problem for all you English majors out there.)

What a beautiful quilt idea. And I love the fabric. And some English majors don't care about whether or not you start a sentence with "and". ;) You just keep writing the way you want to write.

I know!! The fabric is fabu! John says it isn't really me which I think is funny. You know, because it isn't all blue and green and muted. I think having a little boy is making my hair turn pink. Oh, wait...

 Becky and I set out to make a couple of Robinia sweaters in mid-March, which took two months to complete.  Just yesterday, I wove in the ends and wore it.  I'm afraid to block it.   Specs: The Robinia has been making the rounds.  I couldn't see buying the tons of yarn it would take to create the three-strand yarn the designer used, but Becky found this chainette cotton blend, Cantata , that seemed perfect. I've recently realized that making the exact color combination that I liked in the first place is not a bad thing.  It means I get the garment I really loved in the first place. Mods: I made a size XS/S even though I could have made the M according to the designer but everything I knit comes out bigger than expected, even when I gauge swatch right on target.  (I think the blocked weight of the garment just is so much more than the swatch is what causes this, but it's just a theory.)  I didn't wrap any of my floats and it remains to be seen if I'll regret tha

Happy 200 posts to me! I can't believe that two years ago I started writing this because I was wanting to craft and be part of the amazing crafting/blogging community I had discovered. These amazing , vivacious artists , mothers and creators . Everyday I would read their blogs and be blown away by beautiful pictures of wonderful things that they were creating. And they had other jobs like being mama or owning a shop. I was inspired! And then we moved into this wonderful house and a month later Senor gave me a sewing machine. I was floored because it meant he believed I could really create something. My family and friends have always been supportive but this was somehow different. Loot and Inspiration

I have been the recipient of some amazing things the last few weeks. Cindy brought a big box of her grandmother's old sewing things this past weekend. It was full of wonderful things, many of which I actively knew I needed (how often do you get that lucky?!) The scissors are great, old, heavy, entirely reliable. Almost the moment she gave me the box I had put up the thread holder. Not the day before I had looked in my annoying drawer of thread and thought, "I must do something about this mess!" And then Cindy showed up with all those fantabulous things. And right on top was the thread organizer thing! { You can also see on my inspiration wall a washcloth that Erica knitted? for me for x-mas. It is far to pretty to wash my dirty face. I hung it up instead. Also, that blue thing you can just see the side of Seńor bought me at x-mas. And then there is the embroidery hoop with nothing in it...
